Berwicks introduce new environmental programme. The statistics paint a grim picture.
According to the World Resources Institute, more than 80 percent of the Earth's natural forests already have been destroyed. Up to 90 percent of West Africa’s coastal rain forests have disappeared since 1900 while Brazil and Indonesia, which contain the world's two largest surviving regions of rain forest, are being stripped at an alarming rate by logging, fires, land-clearing for agriculture, cattle-grazing and timber products such as paper. (National Geographic, 2008).. Unfortunately, modern business adds to these problems of deforestation by producing millions of paper based documents on a daily basis through their printing and copying equipment. In a new initiative, Berwicks Office Technology in partnership with Carbon Neutral will plant trees equivalent to the total of all pages produced through equipment supplied and maintained by us each year under our Evolve Managed Print service agreement. This will allow you to feel assured you are doing your bit for the environment in helping reduce deforestation and at the same time your carbon footprint.
